STEP and Salesforce Lightning platform
Overview
STEP (The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners) is a non-profit membership organisation whose mission is to inspire confidence in families planning their assets across generations by setting and upholding high professional standards, informing public policy, promoting education, and connecting practitioners globally to share knowledge and best practice.
STEP and Cloud Galacticos have been partnering for the past 5 years on a range of items. This includes managed support, Salesforce Community Cloud/Experiences, and website integrations. STEP reached out to Cloud Galacticos to get assistance with another solution they wanted building on the Salesforce Lightning Platform – a way of managing their members accreditations and progress on the new STEP Diploma.
Objectives
STEP had a number of key objectives for their new app, specifically:
- Make it easy to capture & manage information related to:
- Accredited Education Providers and the certificate/modules which can be provided to members as part of the STEP Diploma.
- Individual member qualifications and the accompanying detail of the certificate/modules they have taken.
- Automate the solution in a way that makes it easy to manage in the future for the STEP team.
- Provide automated summaries of key information related to these qualifications to make it simple for the team to review the status of member’s qualifications.
- Gain better insight & control of the members professional development status to help members progress.
Solutions
Cloud Galacticos responded to the challenge by creating a series of custom objects & fields with key relationships to allow the information to pass between the objects whilst capturing the required detail for Accredited Education Providers, Member Qualifications & Individual Certificates & Modules. The focus was making the most out of the Salesforce Lightning Platform’s declarative features to deliver the best solution whilst making it easy to maintain.
A dedicated app was created for the new objects to make them easily accessible and careful consideration was given to the user interface, showing the end user just the information that they needed to see. One of the key highlights of the solution was the automation. A range of cross object summary fields were calculated providing STEP with a quick and efficient insight into their individual members professional development status, using logic & business defined criteria. This information provided value beyond the Professional Development and Membership teams. It was also very useful for Marketing, enabling them to offer recommendations to members on future courses.
Outcome
The outcome for STEP was a bespoke solution that allowed them to capture & manage their members professional development status in an efficient, structured and controlled way. It ensured they could capture and manage their data effectively and also that they could report on it offering business insight & value. The automated summaries provided a highlight of relevant measures & calculations which were useful beyond the primary team and provided insightful data that the business could take action on.
