Salesforce Spring 22 Release – Phil’s Salesforce Tip of the Week #462

Welcome to my Salesforce Tip of the Week #462

Tip 1 – Salesforce Spring 22 Release

It’s that time of the year again Trailblazers! The Salesforce Spring 22 Release is coming up quickly. As well as all the awesome updates, what most of us really look forward to is the voting of the new logo. There’s already lots of voting and comments on Twitter. Are you #TeamRuth, #TeamAstro, or #TeamAppy?

Be quick to vote for your favourite choice for the new logo for Salesforce Spring 22 Release, you have until Monday 2nd August, click here to vote!

Tip 2 – Slack

Salesforce Slack Integration

Salesforce Slack Integration

Following the official announcement of the Slack acquisition, there is already a whole load of Slack-related learning resources on Trailhead. There’s ‘Boost Collaboration with the Salesforce for Slack Integration‘, ‘Automate Slack Messages‘, and ‘Slack + Salesforce for Future of Work‘…

Why not take a look here and stay ahead of the curve?

Tip 3 – Chrome Extension

Chrome Extension

Chrome Extension

One of our consultants at Cloud Galacticos, Adam (‘meet him’ here), has suggested this useful Chrome Extension…

A useful tool I’ve recently discovered is ‘Better Salesforce Formula Editor’.  Ever get annoyed trying to find that missing bracket and the long if statement all over the place?  This tool can help with these and a lot more.  Including comparisons, tabulation, autocomplete and syntax highlighting.

All in a neat extra tab against the formula when you edit the formula. It even tells you the compile size at the bottom and if any errors exist on the fly.”

Why not have a try of the ‘Better Salesforce Formula Editor‘ and let us know what you think?

Slack and Salesforce – Phil’s Salesforce Tip of the Week #461

Welcome to my Salesforce Tip of the Week #461

Tip 1 – Slack and Salesforce

Slack is a popular messaging app that many companies across the Salesforce eco-system use, including us at Cloud Galacticos. So when I heard that Salesforce wanted to acquire Slack for $27.7 billion, I was intrigued.

Marc Benioff said in a statement that “Together we’ll define the future of enterprise software, creating the digital HQ that enables every organization to deliver customer and employee success from anywhere.”

And now Salesforce’s acquisition of Slack is complete. To mark this, they are holding a number of events, including a session on ‘Building Slack Apps‘, and a chance to excel at buzzword bingo in the ‘global virtual Slack-First Customer 360 vision‘. House!! As a heavy Salesforce and Slack user, I will keep an eye this…

Tip 2 – ParDreamin

October 27-29th will welcome back ParDreamin, the virtual community event for all things Pardot. If Pardot is your thing, you need to sign up, click here for details.

Tip 3 – What’s the score?

Thanks to this week’s guest blogger Luke Menzfeld (Consultant here at Cloud Galacticos, and Admin Community Leader).

Confused by your certification exam results? Want to understand your overall mark of where you might need to improve? Look no further than the ‘Salesforce Certification Checker‘ created by Sean Cuvanov. By selecting your certification and populating the category percentages the tool will calculate not only your overall score, but it will also tell you the negative impact each category had on your result. Cool eh! This help me to identify my gaps, focus my preparation and led to me passing my exam the second time round. Great stuff Sean.”

Slack First – Phil’s Salesforce Tip of the Week #456

Welcome to my Salesforce Tip of the Week #456

Tip 1 – Weekend

This weekend is an enforced ‘No Trailblazer‘ weekend, possibly to allow us all to watch the Euro 2020? With England playing Scotland is a crucial game this evening, and Wales facing Italy on Sunday, there’s plenty to keep us (in the UK) entertained.

Planned maintenance means it is down for most of Saturday and Sunday, so no Answers, Groups, Ideas, etc. etc.. I hope you find something good to do this weekend, be it watching the football, enjoying some family time, or much needed me time!

Tip 2 – Free App of the Week

Introducing ‘SoundBoardForce‘ – a free App where you can send sounds/clips to another User. It’s available on Salesforce Labs and AppExchange. Accordingly to the listing AppExchange, one of the highlights is that you can ‘send dumb sounds to other people!’. You can also ‘send sounds anonymously! Send sounds schmanonymously!’…

Ok so it won’t fix all your Salesforce problems, but it looks like fun. And it does have functionality to mute and block!

Tip 3 – Slack First

Marc Benioff’s message I assume is not ‘Slack first, work later’ (although he is taking a digital break for a couple of months!). More specifically he said “We’re going to rebuild all of our technology, once again, to become Slack-first“. It is not clear what this will entail, or how big a task it is, but it is clear that Slack is viewed as a major part of Salesforce going forward.

Slack, Tableau, and more – Phil’s Salesforce Tip of the Week #427

Slack Gossip

The rumour mill suggests that a deal could be announced next week for Salesforce to acquire Slack. Here is a great write-up from the Financial Times about the implications, and how Slack could fit in with the Salesforce stack, and how it moves Salesforce and Microsoft into closer competition.

From the Press Release:

“The success of Teams has added to the urgency for Mr Benioff to act. The Microsoft service has become an effective tool for channelling users to that company’s other applications — including its customer relationship management software, which competes directly with Salesforce’s own core business.”

It would be very interesting to see where Slack could fit in with the existing Salesforce Clouds, but as a Slack user myself I think it would work well, and especially with the new Salesforce Anywhere product (see here for previous Salesforce Anywhere details).

And well done to our Architect Mike Gill who predicted this back in June 2018… https://salesforceweek.ly/2018/06/mikes-prediction-builder-will-salesforce-be-slacking-off-at-dreamforce.html “…Is Salesforce going to slack off completely this year, or will they ramp it up big time on the Acquisitions and Mergers front in time for Dreamforce?”.

In other news…

Tableau Trails

If you are interested in how you could use Tableau with your Salesforce set up, then you should take a look at this Tableau Trail, or this Tableau Basics for NonProfits Trail. After Salesforce spending so much on Tableau, you know it is going to be a big deal! Just 25 minutes of your time will give you a great overview, then if it is of interest you can start working through all the other related Trails.

I found this whilst scrabbling around Knowledge Articles…If you ever find issues creating a master detail relationship to a custom object, if it already contains data you may not be able to do it! Here is why, and how to deal with it.
