Phil’s Salesforce Tip of the week – 19th October 2012

There are a whole lot of formula options that you can use in Salesforce, in Validations, Workflows, formula fields, etc. Here’s another useful example:

Use the ISCHANGED formula to trigger when users have clicked the Edit button and are in the process of changing a record. So the example below says…when you are changing Status, AND the Record Type is … and the picklist value of the ‘Favourite Football Team’ Field is NOT ‘Manchester United’, then the error message will occur.

ISCHANGED(Status)
&&
RecordTypeId =”012R00000004TeU”
&&
NOT(ISPICKVAL (Favourite_Football_Team_c , “Manchester_United”))

Error Message “You are clearly supporting the wrong team! ”  🙂
